Renaturalization project
As the first Canadian company certified Climate Engagement by ECOCERT, our company Total Fabrication was looking for a carbon offset project. When Arbre-Évolution and Obakir approached us about a project to protect the banks of the Kamouraska River at Camp Richelieu in St-Pascal, we immediately loved the project. It aims to preserve the banks in eroded areas and increase forest cover. More than 60 plants were planted along the river, over a width of more than 2 meters.
In addition, the project was enhanced by adding an edible component. "The grounds of Camp Richelieu seemed ideal to us for a 'gourmet landscape' and, since we have expertise in this field, it seemed essential to suggest this addition," says Simon Côté, Arbre-Évolution coordinator. Once said, it was done, on Monday, June 19, 2017, 20 trees and 40 shrubs were planted at Camp Richelieu in St-Pascal.
A win-win partnership
The development of Camp Richelieu includes the creation of a 350m trail, the addition of a new platform to facilitate fishing, and two new access points to the river made of wood and stone. "For us, it's a way of being consistent with our commitments to the planet. For OBAKIR and the City of St-Pascal, our involvement helps reduce the bill!" explains Denis Beaulieu, President of Total Fabrication.
